Job Purpose: To teach/tutor children with a diagnosis of Autism using Applied Behaviour Analysis methods, implementing and delivering their Individual Education plans and accurately recording the data.
Assist the teacher in providing an environment for the children to ensure it is one that is caring, fun and safe.
Work in an environment that aims to reduce inappropriate behaviours and increase acceptable behaviours by following the appropriate behaviour protocols as set out by the pre-school or the behaviour support team.
Promote the children’s use of communication at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Care of the Child
· Guide or assist the child with everyday living activities
· Encourage and support the child to participate in the daily routine and activities
· Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment
· Supervise children to their developmental level and ensuring their safety
· Recognise, report and document all signs of abuse
· Maintain and environment that conveys a sense of calm, order , consistency and continuity
· Promote and maintain positive relationships with all children
· Complete a wide range of documentation
· Arrange rooms and furniture for daily activities and meals
· Engage in interactive and appropriate play with the child
· Follow behaviour plans to ensure the safety and well-being of the child
· Monitor the children who have medical conditions or allergies and ensure precautions and or care is provided
2. Program Planning and Implementation
· Implement the child’s program (IEP)
· Prepare activities that support and promote the child’s physical, social and creative development
· Record data to document the children’s progress
· Adapt teaching styles to suit individual learning
· Work with the child on a 1:1 basis daily
· Create an environment that provides opportunities for play- peer interaction, imaginative and turn taking
· Promote children to use communication tools at all times
· Following behaviour support plans as set out by the behaviour team
· Observe the child’s interests to promote positive learning
· Preparing activities for group time projects
3. Facility Maintenance
· Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks using cleaning products
· Perform monthly cleaning and maintenance tasks
· Perform weekly cleaning and maintenance tasks using cleaning products
· Identify when furnishing, toys, equipment are unsafe or in need of repair and take the appropriate action
· Identify potential or actual health hazards in a child care setting and take the appropriate action
4. Food and Nutrition
· Preparing lunches and adhering to specific needs in relation to allergies and other conditions
· Preparing other foods and adhering to specific needs in relation to allergies and other dietary conditions
5. Administration
· Adhere to policies, standards and regulations
· Ensure that policies, standards and regulations are adhered to
· Attend staff meetings
