ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Design Director, the Project Designer - Dolls and Girls Brands (12-month contract) provides the creative direction and sets illustrative tone for new and existing brand like Magic Mixies- Pixlings and Kindi Kids.
This role will be required to execute new and existing doll concepts, and to also brief internal and external teams on the agreed design direction, giving feedback to ensure the work meets the creative brief. Mentoring and developing internal illustration teams also required.
The main responsibilities include:
- Lead creative design vision and product development in the Dolls category while partnering closely with Design Director.
- Establish and manage all creative from brand development, art direction to establishing doll styling across segments.
- Manage all levels of complexity: from basic dolls to complex doll with features.
- Ideates from concept through to production and oversee the development with local technical designers, engineers, and manufacturing partners in Asia.
- Communicate and presents ideas clearly – ability to visually and verbally pitch concepts/product experience through story telling.
- Pitches new concepts to senior leadership and ability to take and adapt critical feedback.
- Create and direct product technical specification documents, such as model specs and colour specs for oversees manufacturing.
ABOUT YOU
- Trend focused Dolls Design Leader with experience in mass toy development in this category.
- Understands and anticipates global markets and keeps up to date with competitor information and market trends.
- Advanced illustration skills in doll and character designs.
- Ability to clearly brief and art direct vision to team of talented individuals and freelancers.
- Advanced understanding of doll manufacturing, textiles and construction constraints.
- Understanding of materials and plastic limitations and finishes and their application into product.
- Owning project independently while being able to work collaboratively with immediate and cross functional teams.
- Enjoys fast pace creative working environments, adaptable to change and open new ideas.
- Advanced skills in: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and digital illustration.
- Proficient in: Microsoft PowerPoint.
